
A memorial service will be held on January 23, 2015 at New Zion Community Church at 955 Oliver St. , Indianapolis, Indiana 46221 at 12 pm. Friends and family may call from 11-12pm.
Robert Louis King (85) departed this life on January 10th, 2015 while in the VA Medical Center. He was born November 3, 1930 in Chattanooga, TN to Alfred G. and Alta M. Lee King. He attended Tennessee State University, where he graduated in 1959 with Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Education.
He was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. He served in the US Marines during the Korean Conflict.
Robert, or “Bob” as he was affectionately called, retired from Indianapolis Public Schools. He began his teaching career at Mississippi Vocational College in Mississippi before making his home in Indianapolis, IN where he taught Math and Special Education at Thomas Carr Howe High School and Harry E. Wood High School.
Bob enjoyed fishing, gardening, and especially jazz music. He owned an extensive jazz collection.
Bob was married to Vivian Swan King who preceded him in death. To this union four children were born. Bob married Priscilla Elaine Stevens King on August 8, 2002.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Priscilla, daughters Debra (Joe) Didot, Linda (Ronnie) Jordan, Karen King, and Alta (Art) Stanley, one brother George (Louise) King of Tampa, FL.,three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two stepsons, Darryl (Cecilia) Stevens and Sean Stevens, and a host of other relatives and friends.
